UCAS Clearing help

UCAS Clearing help
It’s now the summer holidays and Year 13 students are anxiously waiting for A Level exam results to be published. Many International Baccalaureate and BTEC students have received their results already.

Students who have applied to universities and colleges via UCAS will receive a notification on results day, August 16th, stating whether they have met the conditions of their offer. Those who have not met these conditions will be eligible for UCAS clearing

So, what is UCAS clearing?

UCAS clearing is how universities and colleges fill any places they still have on their courses. There are thousands of courses available through clearing each year.

How do I know if I’m eligible for UCAS clearing?

When you sign into track on August 16th, it will state whether you have met the conditions of your offer. If you haven’t, your Track status will say ‘You are in Clearing’ or ‘Clearing has started’.

Where can I find available courses in clearing?

You can find available course in the UCAS course search through clicking here. Make sure you click the ‘Show courses with vacancies’ in the filter down the left hand side.

I’ve found a course which I want to apply to – now what do I do?

Important! Before adding the clearing course to UCAS, you will need to phone the chosen university / college to see if they will consider you. Make sure you have your clearing number and personal ID to hand so they can look up your application. If they decide to informally accept you over the phone you can add the clearing choice to track by following the steps below.

How do I add a clearing choice in Track?

Once you have permission from the university / college to add the choice to clearing, you will need to select ‘Add a clearing choice’ on UCAS track. You will then be instructed to enter the course details.

When the institution has accepted the offer, it will be displayed as an acceptance on your ‘choices’ page in UCAS track.

Good luck to all students on A Level results day.
